I loved it. I was thrilled for all the reasons you mentioned, though I was shocked that in the end they all survived. Hatikvah! If we ever lose hope, we lose everything. But we should never forget, because from the Crusades and before, from the Inquisition to pogroms to the Holocaust to today, we are never really as safe as we think we are.

Read the book about 8 years ago and loved it. I saw the series when it came out. I loved the Hulu series. Really left quite an impression con me.

I have not yet seen "White Bird", “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”, or "We were the Lucky Ones" yet. However, "A Small Light" is "hands-down" one of my FAVORITE films/mini-series of all times. This 8-part, televised (on the "National Geographic" cable channel) mini-series was based upon one of my favorite books of all time: "Anne Frank Remembered", by Miep Gies, first published in 1986. IF you have not yet seen this fairly faithful, biographical WWII/Holocaust drama and/or read this book, you ought to. BOTH are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Yes! Had some lovely chats with both the showrunners and the young cast of the show over at Kveller! It is a great show.

To me, "The Grey Zone" is about as dark and depressing as any Holocaust movie/show, and that's as it should be, IMHO. In the history of humanity, the Holocaust marks a singular level of evil.
