I watched the first few episodes of Nobody Wants This and then stopped. There have been better treatments of the subject matter and even those were somewhat cringe worthy. I know many other Jews who love this show, but I found it very hard to believe.
I didn’t get quite far enough in “Veep” to hear the “This hat is too small for my yarmulke” joke but I just laughed out loud for real. Also! I drew Julia Louis-Dreyfus and one of Veep’s creators, Frank Rich, last year and it was fabulous! They were talking about how American political reality stole way too much from their show…
Oh man, Susan, that's amazing! But yeah, definitely depressing to write these characters who are all these kind of monstrous parodies of what a person could be and then realize it's actually just a realistic portrait of some people in politics.
How about conversion as a means of getting closer to the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe? In fulfillment of a desire to share in the covenant between Gd and Israel and the acceptance of Torah and mitzvah. This show is a distortion of of Judaism, as much as the Nanny is a caricature and distortion of Jews by equating one's Judaism with lower middle class 1950's and 60's lower middle class Jewishly uneducated and assimilating Jews who have who distance themselves from Judaism and believe only in the New York Times and the leftist current of the Democratic party.

Looks like my comment got cut off? …American political reality stole way too much from their show. They were very depressed when they said this!
