I have a real hard time watching Somebody feed Phil. When he did his Israel episode he said that Tel Aviv as the capital of Israel. He refused to apologize saying the US state Department lists Tel Aviv as Israel's capital. Even if it did, I have no use for a Jew who clearly is afraid to actually be a Jew. Doing shtick doesnt make you a proud Jew.
His daughter Lily lost a close friend on October 7. I think they do care about being Jewish and uplifting Jewish and Israeli businesses, culture, and food. I think there are complex realities that come with shooting an episode like that for a big streamer like Netflix. He could've chosen to just not do it. But he did and I am glad for it.
The Israel episode was years before October 7. And his daughter losing a friend on October 7 doesn’t mitigate what he did or didn’t do. Saying there are complex issues in shooting for Netflix is a bit of a cop out. You either stand for something or you don’t. It’s not like other Jewish shows on Netflix don’t say Jerusalem is Israel’s capital so there was no reason he should have said it was Tel Aviv and then used the State Dept as the excuse.
