Excellent synopsis! I, too, was not in agreement with Esther telling Joanne that “Being Jewish is a feeling.” Rather shallow words imo. What about the essential heart of Judaism which is knowing & observing the religious teachings, culture, traditions & rituals of Judaism? Joanne is headed in that direction but there is much more to being an observant Jew than a “feeling.”
