A Hallmark Hanukkah movie drinking game

Perfect honestly for every Hanukkah Hallmark movie every made.

This year, we are getting not one, but two new Hanukkah Hallmark movies: “Hanukkah on the Rocks” and “Leah’s Perfect Gift.”

OK, so “Leah’s Perfect Gift” I would actually classify as a Jewish Christmas movie, but it does have a really fun Hanukkah celebration (by Jewish Hallmark standards only, by any other standards it’s cheesy AF).

I personally adore Hallmark movies, especially Hanukkah Hallmark movies. I still think the best one ever made is last year’s time-loop “Round and Round,” but I do think these two new movies are pretty delightful, probably because of their stars — Emily Arlook of “Nobody Wants This,” who finally gets her interfaith Jewish happy ending in “Leah’s Perfect Gift,” and former Nickelodeon host Marc Summers, who makes his acting debut in “Hannukah on the Rocks.”

Whether you’re watching these new movies or fun installments of years past (I also really recommend “Hanukkah on Rye”), here is a fun drinking game to hopefully enhance your viewing pleasure:

• Drink every time a Jewish mom is reminding her daughter to eat or being otherwise overbearing

• Drink every time a bubbe says “oy” or another Yiddish word in an unconvincing way

• Drink every time Christmas gets mentioned

• Drink every time there’s a dreidel competition (are adult dreidel competitions really a thing??)

• Drink every time someone waxes poetic about Christmas

• Nosh every time you see black and white cookies, challah or any food not traditionally associated with Hanukkah

• Nosh every time you see catered and likely cold Hanukkah sufganiyot and latkes.

• Drink every time you see the cheesiest Hanukkah decorations, likely from Amazon

• Drink every time someone shares the secret to perfect latkes (what is the secret??)

• Drink every time a Jewish grandparent meddles

• Drink every time you feel completely unconvinced that this movie takes place in New York/Chicago/any place other than Winnipeg, Canada where it was clearly shot

• Drink and fan yourself every time you swoon at a NJB or NJG star

• Drink every time someone tries to matchmake the heroine with someone’s relative who is a lawyer or doctor

• Drink every time you start tearing up even though you told yourself you wouldn’t cry while watching a Hallmark movie, oof!!!
